Q4 Architects

Q4 Architects has designed a new home (the CORE House) that has a 600-square-foot concrete center area that would be able to withstand the high winds and flying debris generated by a tornado. Lidija Grozdanic reports at inhabitat.com that this home was designed for Joplin, Mo., residents and would cost less than $50,000 to build. If hit by a tornado, the outer stick-built portion would be destroyed, but the central area would serve as a secure shelter and would be undamaged by the storm. For more, visit here.
