Pumping is a fast, labor-saving method for placing concrete. But it still takes a lot of manpower to drag discharge line filled with heavy, wet concrete around areas not accessible with a boom. Lamar Barrett, construction superintendent for Brice Building Co., Inc., devised a unique trolley system that puts concrete pipeline on wheels. Aluminum beams serve as the trolley tracks, allowing workers to roll the pipeline across the length of the beams. Cradles on top of the trolleys hold the pipeline perpendicular to the beams. Four wheels inside each cradle allow axial pipeline movement.
