The concrete furniture designed and built by California designer David Hertz offers a unique combination of grace and satisfying mass. A graduate of Southern California Institute of Architecture, Hertz found his inspiration to create in concrete while working at construction sites, pouring slabs and footings. Then, technology he learned as an architecture student was adapted to make his own type of furniture, which incorporates fragments of buildings such as steel beams, weights, and cantilevers. In addition to the custom furniture, David Hertz has supplied concrete bars, counter tops, and tables for restaurants; residential kitchen counters in concrete; concrete counters and vases for a flower shop; and tables, table tops, and accessories for other retail stores.
