The men started by grinding the slab with metal bond diamonds to roughen the slab surface. Then they applied an acrylic polymer bond coat and allowed it to dry overnight. A 5/16-inch-thick application of self-leveling overlay followed, which was then seeded with recycled glass aggregate. When the overlay hardened, they diamond-polished the slab to a 1500-grit finish, adding solvent dye patterning after the 400-grit application. They finished the work by applying a penetrating stain guard and burnishing.
