The crowds were awesome at the Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion at World of Concrete, and with good reason. The sun was shining all weeklong and the decorative concrete projects were wonderful sights to behold.

Once again, the decorative contractors stepped up and demonstrated why this material we celebrate every winter in Las Vegas is tops, bar none, when it comes to innovation. Congratulations to Adrian Gascon of Creative Waterscapes, Fillmore, Calif.; and Roy Bowman, of Concrete Visions, Tulsa., Okla., for finishing in first and second place, respectively, in the attendees and expert balloting, respectively.

Kudos also go to Butterfield Color, whose booth was judged Best Overall by the panel of experts and the attendees. Solomon Colors and Smith Paints also were honored. You can read more here and in a special digital issue of Concrete Surfaces next month.

The show saw increased attendance over 2012 and exhibitors took up more space. Overall, attendees and exhibitors seemed more upbeat than I’ve seen in years, good signs for the coming months and years.
