Reichert and Wagner's inspiration was the antique neon “Vegas Vic” and “Vegas Vicky” signs that stand in the Fremont Street Casino district of Las Vegas. Using an 18-piece stencil of each figure, they added layer upon layer of different colored microtoppings. They started by troweling the darkest background color first, ending with the lightest color applications. The black color contained embedded silver foil and Vicky's hat contained embedded clear glass with red metallic leaf trim. Vic's hat included crushed shells in his hat and boots, black glass beads in his buttons, and red and copper metallic paint.
