Stampable, polymer-modified overlay systems are a cost-effective way to dress up existing concrete surfaces that are worn, discolored, pockmarked, or cracked. Using a bond coat and stamping mix, contractors can produce durable overlays in various colors, patterns, and textures to restore the eye-appeal of sound, yet eroded, surfaces. If these overlays fail, nearly everyone agrees that improper surface preparation often is the major cause. Contractors must follow the proper procedures for repairing cracks and spalls, cleaning and profiling the surface, and mixing and applying the bond coat.
