Sculptor Sam Gendusa created an 8-foot-high concrete sculpture, titled Interlocking Forms, with the help of teachers and students at the Oregon State School for the Deaf. The hands represent "friendship" in American sign language. The sculpture framework of 1/2-inch steel was constructed of No. 4 steel rebars arc welded to each other and to a 1/2-inch steel baseplate. Expanded metal lath was wired between these rebars. Bent 1/4-inch stainless steel rods welded to the rebar frame created the outline of the finished sculpture.
