Like Dean, Troy Lemon has been involved with concrete all his life, the last 10 years as a full-time decorative concrete contractor. He keeps his business small by stressing quality and getting involved with interesting projects. Work takes him and his crew as far as Florida, New York, and Montana.

Lemon's employee, Dan Granger, helped place the concrete for his pad. He broadcast a dark dry-shake color hardener and embedded large chunks of glass in the fresh concrete. Then he built a wall and the framework for a fireplace. Lemon applied a vertical overlay mix and handcarved rock shapes into the wall and a brick pattern inside the firebox. Afterward, he colored and shaded his work with water-based dyes.
