For 14 years, JJ Juliano Construction has been installing large commercial and industrial floors in the state of New York. For the last 3 years, the company has been installing the floors much faster thanks to a laser-guided grader attachment for Bobcat skid-steer loaders.
The grader is a 7-foot-wide, 1,100-pound moldboard that attaches quickly to the skid-steer loader. Powered hydraulically through switches mounted on the loader's steering levers, the grader can be angled up to 22 degrees left or right and its blade offset up to 12 inches left or right from center. The multicomponent laser-control system includes a laser beacon, two grader-mounted receivers, and a grader-mounted control panel. The beacon is said to be accurate up to 1,000 feet away, and the receivers accept signals from all directions. Manufactured by Laser Alignment Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich., the system costs about $8,000 and is available as an option through Bobcat's manufacturer, Melroe Co., Fargo, N.D.
