Productivity improvements for both the contractor and concrete producer can result from the use of front-discharge ready mix trucks. The reason? A timesaving capability of driving directly to where concrete is needed, then controlling water addition, chute position and concrete discharge all from inside the truck.

Because he doesn't have to back onto the jobsite, the driver chooses the best approach to the pour and moves directly to it with no lost motion. The driver can see the chute at all times so he doesn't damage it by backing into something. With most of the weight at the back of the truck, the driver can safely pull closer to excavations; the danger of cave-ins is decreased. Due to a higher mounting of the collector hopper, the chute can reach over obstacles or place concrete at higher elevations.
