Makita USA recently has introduced the BHR202—a compact cordless rotary hammer powered by an 18-V Li-ion battery. With a motor that delivers up to 1000 rpm and 4000 bpm, the hammer has a three-mode switch for rotation only, hammering with rotation, or hammering only. It also features a torque limiter clutch that disengages if the bit jams when hitting rebar or other obstructions.

The BHR202 has a shock-absorbent handle engineered to reduce vibration transmission from the tool to the battery terminals and thus extend the life of the battery. Makita's LXT Li-ion batteries are reported to provide 1400 recharge/ discharge cycles.
