Max USA offers cordless rebar tying tools that can wire-tie reinforcing bars five times faster than manual tying. The RB655 uses coils of 16-gauge wire to tie rebar up to #9x#8. Depending on rebar size, it will yield 120 to 230 ties per coil and power two to four coils per battery charge. Model RB515 is designed for tying larger rebar, from #5x#5 up to #8x#7. It uses 21-gauge wire and can be adjusted to make either three or four wraps per tie. Max USA's tools run on rechargeable NiCad batteries, but the company plans a transition to Li-ion technology sometime in 2009.
