Manufactured from a product used in toothpaste, UltraPozz is ground to a 3-micron diameter powder that becomes pozzolanic. Combined with free lime in hydrated portland cement, it forms additional calcium silicate hydrates. It will reduce the heat of hydration from 10% to 40% during the first 100 hrs, lowering the threat of thermal cracking and allowing for a cooler, controlled set. After 100 hrs the cement-water hydration process wanes while the mixes continue to hydrate until one of the two remaining hydration agents have been consumed.
