What is the function of an absorption blanket in the construction of a granolithic concrete floor?
The blanket consists of layers of fine-mesh burlap over which ordinary portland cement is spread to function as a blotting material. Moist cement is scraped off after each cycle of use and added to the following batch. It should be noted that very rich mixes (8 to 11 bags of cement per cubic yard) are customarily used in this process.
