The Liberty Center, located on I-75 between Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio is a real estate development featuring the first enclosed mall to be built in the U.S. since 2007.

Jeffco Concrete worked as a subcontractor under Hoar Construction of Birmingham, Ala., to install the polished concrete flooring. Owners Steiner and Associates installed polished concrete floors in lieu of ceramic tile, ultimately saving the owner more than $1 million on the overall project budget.

The owners selected unique solvent-based colors that were color-matched by Ameripolish, Repose Gray and Barcelona Beige. Natural polish, no dye, was also included.

The Liberty Center was designed to look like a rustic, old steel mill with exposed iron, bricks, and steel forms, including a 90-foot-tall, faux smokestack on the exterior.

Design flexibility and cost savings convinced all parties that polished concrete was the premium flooring choice and would go well with the overall theme they desired. Polished concrete was installed throughout the public concourses on two levels of the mall.
