This project started about three years ago, and may continue in the future, but is complete for now. It was done in three phases, and the final phase included the most concrete pouring.
The project included colored medians between 2 and 16 feet wide over a 4-mile stretch of highway. Joints were hand-tooled every 2 feet, and every other section was troweled or broomed to create a checkerboard pattern.
The hand-tooled cuts every 2 feet took a great amount of time. Some 2-foot-wide sections of concrete were done with a Gomaco curb machine with a custom mold that was 8 inches in 2 inches.
