Changes in how bridges are constructed are reducing delays. Today the Federal Highway Administration’s Bridge Division is focused on “Fast Track.” Its motto is, “Get in, get out, and stay out.” There is a new emphasis for accelerating construction and repair of bridges:
- Reduce total construction time
- Minimize traffic disruption
- Build bridges with longer life expectancies
- Increase safety by decreasing the time that drivers and workers are exposed in work zones
These goals are being accomplished in several ways.
