This 3,000-square-foot home in St Croix Falls, Wis., sits on a six-acre lake view lot. The client came to concrete arts wanting to explore option with stone and concrete work. Finding out that he has a beautiful home with a unique structure, unique structure being a “castle” like tower on the west end, the idea was generated to use a LifeTime Floors product Karvekrete. Karvekrete allows for easy vertical stamping and hand carving of plaster.
The karvekrete siding was applied with a trowel on top of a Tarpaper and lathe base. The product was applied approximately 2 inches thick and stamped with Castle stone and old granite concrete stamps. The craftsmen hand carved brick borders along the window edges with a decomposed look. The decomposed look was an important element due to the fact that you cannot get the look with traditional building materials.
Two integral colors were used. The Castle stone stamped portion of the home was colored Beach Sand while the Old Granite was Emerald. A custom blend of stains was used to accent stones and window borders.
