The homeowners for this project live on the California coast, and spend most of their summers in Hawaii. The artist, Candace Hixon, worked closely with them to create three bathrooms, including this one.

Hixon primarily used Buddy Rhodes products for this project, since they can make concrete tile just 5/8 inch thick. The tiles were integrally colored and later acid stained for a more intense color. Tile installation was done by Tapia Tile and Marble, Redwood City, Calif. Hixon used her own mold to create the sink, and sculpted the concrete pedestal while it was drying. Parts of the sink were later acid stained to complement the wall tiles. Hixon also used her own molds to cast the seashells using Colormaker Scraffino.
