Question: I would like to consider using the small glass spheres described in an article I found on your Web site. However, I cannot locate the company that was reclaiming glass from the waste stream and recycling it into this lightweight aggregate. Can you provide any information?
Answer: These small, porous spheres manufactured from recycled glass were described in "From Trash to Filler," which appeared in the September 2003 issue of The Concrete Producer. The product at that time was called Siscor Spheres and was offered by Toronto-based Spherical Industrial Solutions Corp. Over the next couple of years, the firm became more closely connected with the German originators of the manufacturing process, and the company has since become Poraver North America, headquartered in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Poraver opened its fi rst North American production facility a little more than a year ago. The 100%-recycled-glass product is available through distributors.
