  According to the latest forecast from  the Portland Cement Association, cement consumption will increase a  modest four percent in 2013, but will approach double-digit growth in 2014 and  2015, with 9.7 percent consumption increases in both years.

• Ray LaHood to speak at MIT CSHub Showcase

  The MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub will host its 2013 Showcase Sept. 25-26 at MIT's Media Lab in Cambridge, Mass. Ray LaHood, former Secretary of Transportation, will deliver the keynote speech on the importance of considering the long-term impacts of infrastructure decisions—a key element of the Hub's research.

• TXI mourns Robert D. Rogers

  TXI Chairman Robert David Rogers (1936-2013) died June 11 in Dallas. Rogers served as TXI chief executive officer from 1970–2004, and chairman of the board since. The TXI Board of Directors has named Tom Ransdell as Rogers' replacement.
