“Jones Concrete (JCC) does not base itself on the volume of work it can complete, but rather on the ability to grow and maintain good solid relationships,” says estimator and project manager Steve Rafalski. “Emmett Jones does not see that the company employs 65 workers. He sees 65 families that need support and a steady living that he ensures is provided.”
During the recession, which was sharper in Arizona than almost anywhere, JCC added 20 contractors to its repeat client list by networking and obtaining certified small business status. Its clients range from big companies such as Kiewit, Turner, Skanska, and Gilbane, to smaller general contractors. A core of repeat business that has offered a stable work flow is the concrete work done for Intel in Chandler, Ariz. The focus and attention required by Intel in safety, quality, and performance has helped build a solid foundation for the company.
