Armed with a wheelbarrow, shovel, trowels, and $2,000, brothers Antonio and Joseph Frias founded S&F Concrete Contractors in 1965 and set out to pursue the American Dream. The Frias brothers passed down their skills as hands-on concrete masons, personally training foremen to their high standards. Today the company has more than 450 employees, supporting youth programs, career mentoring initiatives, and scholarships.

S&F has worked on landmark facilities around Boston and the East Coast, including the Millennium Tower luxury condominiums under construction. This skyscraper boasts Boston’s largest continuous monolithic concrete placement — 6,000 cubic yards placed in 22.5 hours — and will be Boston’s tallest residential building. Other notable S&F projects include:

The Ray & Maria Stata Center at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, designed by architect Frank Gehry

  • Sports facilities including Gillette Stadium, the Fleet Center, and Fenway Park
  • A Golden Trowel-winning facility for Lego Industries.
  •
