Typically in the construction business when a father and son work for a company, the father was the founder. With Gregory Construction, it’s the opposite; Aaron started his own company in 2007 at the tender age of 21. After his father closed his own construction business he came into Aaron’s business as an investor and partner. When you observe the quick mind and self-confidence of Aaron Gregory, you’re not surprised at his success.

“I always wanted my own business,” he says, “so I prayed on it and went ahead. I had five guys working with me, $50,000, and a pickup. But I built my reputation, and over the last decade we have become the go-to contractor in this area for complex concrete projects. There’s a big learning curve—concrete’s not easy. We started out doing a lot of infrastructure rehab, then about 4 years ago began doing structural concrete projects. Now we have around 200 employees and a nice backlog.”

Gregory likes having control of his projects both with labor and equipment. “We mostly self-perform our labor and I love equipment—I’m a yellow toy junkie! We own 30 to 40 pieces of heavy equipment and just hired a dedicated equipment manager. We use GPS tracking to optimize all our equipment and vehicles.”

He has lofty goals. “My plan is for Gregory Construction to shine brighter than our competitors, to be better than the rest.” His business philosophy is based on his Christian faith. “We care for our employees and treat our clients the way we want to be treated. Try to have excellence in everything we say and do.” That sounds like a recipe for success.
