
Federal Judge William Stafford blocked the release of documents held by the Florida Department of Transportation, which might reveal why Southwest Eight Street, the road under the Florida International University bridge that collapsed in March, wasn't closed while construction continued.
A meeting held over large cracks that had developed in the span of the bridge took place hours before the pedestrian bridge failed and killed six people. The National Transportation Safety Board in charge of investigating the disaster ordered the state not to release the notes and minutes saying their release could threaten the integrity of the investigation.
