(KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 3, 2012) – Overlooking Highway 98 on Okaloosa Island, Florida, Tnemec’s 2012 Tank of the Year winner is a picture postcard of the state’s Emerald Coast with its 24-miles of snow-white beaches and aqua-marine water stretching along the Gulf of Mexico. It’s hard to envision the pristine setting two years ago, when residents and vacationers were finding tar balls and oiled wildlife affected by the Gulf oil disaster.
“This year’s judges were impressed by the tank’s colorful artwork depicting the Emerald Coast, which is named for the color of the waters reflecting off the quartz sand beaches,” explained Doug Hansen, director, Tnemec Water Tank Market. “The mural on the 500,000 gallon pedestal tank is a tribute to the efforts of Okaloosa County government and citizens to protect their sugar white beaches and emerald green waters from all environmental threats. Both the citizens and the many tourists to the area enjoy the fruits of these efforts in the form of clean beaches and crystal clear waters.”
