Challenge: We’re understaffed to handle the size of our capital program. Our Engineering & Construction Division doesn’t have adequate resources to manage design and construction of approved projects, which include the city’s largest ever: an 8 mgd, $35 million water treatment plant. Designing the conventional (aeration, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration) facility is just starting.
Solution: We’re hiring contract employees and consultants to help manage our capital program. This was never required in the past.
