Hoover Dam & Lake Mead Intake Tour
Sunday, Jan. 19, 1-6 p.m.
New to the tour this year is a stop at the Lake Meade Intake Construction site. Get an overview of the project from a representative of the construction company where you’ll view the mixing plant, storage yard, and equipment supporting the tunneling activity. Plus, you’ll receive an overview of the Hoover Dam project, including descriptions of the construction of the water intake structure and tunneling operations. This is one of the most popular events at WOC, so sign-up early!
Crews that Rock
Wednesday, Jan. 22, 3-4 p.m.
Hard work prevails as top concrete and masonry teams compete in the 2014 Crews that Rock competition. Last year, a parks and recreation project from the City of Round Rock, Texas, won the Experts’ Choice Award. Join us at the CC Live booth C3639 as this year’s winners are presented at the Winners’ Reception.
Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion

Have your crews been involved with any decorative concrete work? Stop by the hub for creativity and inspiration, the Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion. Check out the 12th Annual Artistry in Decorative Concrete Demos, Tool Demos, and now in its second year, the Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion Awards program.
Fall Protection Showcase
Tuesday-Thursday, Jan. 21-23, during show hours
This is a hands-on educational showcase where you’ll be able to focus on key elements of fall protection systems, including proper anchorage points, body support systems and connectors, and will have an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge in an interactive exercise. Industry experts will conduct a training exercise twice a day that features new product technology, discussion on industry standards and regulations, and principles of fall protection equipment selection and use.
Pervious Concrete Live!
Tuesday-Thursday, Jan. 21-23, during show hours
This hands-on learning activity is open to all WOC attendees. Take advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate and enhance your skills as pervious concrete installers and you’ll also meet one of the requirements for the pervious concrete installer certification. During the two-hour field project, you’ll practice and demonstrate procedures for placing, compacting, finishing, edging, jointing, and early curing of a pervious concrete slab.

New for WOC 2014, Breakfast with the Experts will provide attendees peer-to-peer opportunities each morning to pose their questions on technical problems to leading concrete industry experts. This is a great opportunity to exchange ideas and network with peers in the industry.
Mississippi River Bridge Project
Thursday, Jan. 23, 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
This event will highlight a project chosen to receive The Concrete Triad Award. The honoree is an infrastructure project completed within the 12 months preceding WOC. The project showcases architectural design, sustainability, and contractor ingenuity on a significant concrete public works structure located in North America. Join the discussion for a unique opportunity to share concerns on current topics affecting the concrete repair and maintenance industry. The information and ideas developed in this forum will become part of the Concrete Construction and Public Works websites.
This year’s Triad showcase project is the St. Louis New Mississippi River Bridge.
