Fairfax, Virginia – McDonough Bolyard Peck (MBP), in joint venture with AECOM, was selected by the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) for a multi-year renovation contract to provide Construction Management as Agent services for the renewal of the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

“We are extremely excited about this strategic contract award,” says Robert Hixon, Jr., PE, CCM, LEED AP, MBP’s Director of Government Services, and the joint venture’s Contract Executive for the project. “It is imperative to understand the client’s needs to provide the right solutions; our previous working relationship with the AOC and our experience has equipped the MBP team to provide high quality services for a successful project delivery.”

The project involves replacing or upgrading all major building systems to include complete renewal/modernization to meet all applicable codes. The building will remain occupied and operational for the duration of the renewal program.

MBP will provide design assistance and pre-construction services and full construction management consulting services including critical path method scheduling, building information modeling, commissioning, and claims avoidance.

“We understand the project challenges and will use state-of-the-art innovation and technologies to optimize project outcomes,” says Hixon.

The Cannon House Office Building is a five-story building with a full basement and multi-level parking garage. Built in 1908, it is the oldest congressional office building on Capitol Hill and includes offices for members of the U.S. House of Representatives and a number of Congressional committees.
