The National Concrete Masonry Association has reached an agreement with The Association of Equipment Manufacturers to co-locate its International Concrete Exposition (Icon Expo) trade show with AEM's CONEXPO/CON-AGG 2011 in Las Vegas.

Mark Hogan, president of NCMA, stated, “We are very excited about the prospects of joining AEM, National Ready Mix Concrete Association, National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association, Associated General Contractors of America, and National Fluid Power Association during CONEXPO in 2011.”

NCMA, along with Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, Cast Stone Institute, Portland Cement Association, and Expanded Shale, Clay, and Slate Institute, will present its first Icon Expo next year in Indianapolis, which will feature an extensive education program and over 200 exhibitors. The 2010 show will be in San Antonio.

In other NCMA news, the group has announced plans to create new membership categories for segmental retaining wall (SRW) contractors and installers. These companies represent the industry's fastest growing market segment, with more than 10,000 SRW contractors and 50,000 SRW installers in the United States and Canada.

NCMA has been providing certification training for SRW installers for more than five years, with about 6000 individuals completing the requirements. As part of its renewed effort in this market area, the group's trade show – Icon Expo 2009 – will include a special SRW pavilion within the exhibit floor and educational sessions specifically designed for SRW contractors and installers.
