The day is intended to encourage community health initiatives and will teach children in the neighborhood about urban gardening. The day will include a robust lesson on vertical gardening, which is an innovative way to gain space in areas where agricultural room might be tight. The day will also include a basketball tournament and will wrap up with students joining to create teacher appreciation bags. Over 100 children from the community are expected to attend. The 2016 Community Service Day was held at the same school. DDC’s College and High School interns will contribute to Community Service Day as volunteers.
