The Concrete Producer’s 2012 Industry Influencers are:

  • Block USA’s Major Ogilvie has been instrumental in spearheading the National Concrete Masonry Check-off program. This will help concrete block producers with marketing, promotion, education, and research. Bringing the program to fruition is a time-consuming labor of love for Ogilvie, who deserves credit for all of his hard work.
  • Every ready-mix concrete dispatcher owes a debt of gratitude to Jim Wagner of Command Alkon. With his technological know-how, Wagner has developed dispatching systems that have allowed producers to become much more efficient in their dispatching operations. He has conducted training sessions for the past 44 years and wrote The Handbook of Ready-Mixed Concrete Dispatching in 2001.
  • The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Concrete Sustainability Hub has taken its research results to the streets only three years since starting its important work. The RMC Research and Education Foundation and the Portland Cement Association established the hub to accelerate breakthroughs in concrete science and engineering, and most importantly, to transfer that science into practice.
