With more than 100 years of collective experience in the industry, Dauphinais Concrete has a great story of how and why it has been synonymous with quality and service in ready mixed concrete since 1937. “My grandfather and his two brothers started E.L. Dauphinais Inc. shortly after the depression,” recalls Cheryl Dauphinais, office manager. Over the years, he went on to buy out other concrete companies in the area and at one point had about 10 plants operating along with several sand and gravel pits. “Our family is responsible for providing much of the concrete that has gone into many projects of all kinds in Worcester, Mass., and its surrounding areas,” adds Cheryl.
In 1987, her father Paul and his two uncles sold the family business to a British-based company, which eventually sold it to Aggregate Industries.
Upon graduating from University of Massachusetts Stockbridge in 1997, Cheryl’s brother Chris started C.P. Dauphinais Landscape in Sutton, Mass., with his father. But even after succeeding in the landscape business, Chris wanted to do what his father and grandfather had done.
In 2008 Chris and his father started to build a new empire in the original family business of ready-mixed concrete with Dauphinais Concrete Inc. “Chris has so much pride in carrying on the family tradition and he runs a top-notch facility,” boasts Cheryl. He has gained the respect of his customers through his extensive knowledge of the construction industry, equipment operation, management, and customer service. At 35, Chris has already been nominated to be vice president of the Massachusetts Concrete & Aggregate Producers Association.
The producer offers complete residential and commercial ready-mix concrete for poured foundations, walls, driveways and sidewalks, flowable fill, and more. Dauphinais Concrete has quite a story—one of determination and hard work that ultimately led to success.
