WAUKESHA, Wis. (April 16, 2013) – The Business Journal recently announced Spancrete – the world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of precast, prestressed concrete products and solutions – as a winner in the inaugural Eureka Awards. Spancrete received the award in the Design category for the company’s “Innovation in the Precast Concrete Industry: Pervious Concrete Systems” entry.

“We are proud that Spancrete is recognized among the winners in the Eureka Awards competition,” explains Dan Willems, P.E., managing director, corporate development. “Spancrete is paving the way in innovative approaches to stormwater runoff solutions, including our new pervious concrete systems.”

Spancrete recently introduced the industry’s first-ever slip-formed precast pervious concrete systems that effectively filter stormwater to reduce runoff and pollutants from entering streams, rivers and wastewater treatment facilities.

“In addition to being environmentally friendly, our precast slabs allow contractors to install vast areas in a single day, offer more versatility, ensure that only fully cured concrete arrives on site, and improve efficiency without compromising strength and quality,” Willems adds.

The Eureka Awards recognizes innovation and creativity in business, education, the arts and other programs for businesses, individuals and organizations throughout the Milwaukee area. Winners will be profiled in a special section of the May 10, 2013, issue of The Business Journal and at an awards luncheon that day at The Pfister Hotel.
