Aggregate Industries US has received the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) Environmental Excellence Award at two of its ready-mix locations. This national award recognizes producers that are working toward a sustainable environment while maintaining responsible and thorough operations management practices.
“We are proud of our plants for receiving this award and for their strong commitment to environmental awareness and stewardship,” said Joel Nickel, head of land and environment with the company’s Aggregates and Construction Materials business. “Recognitions like these demonstrate how Aggregate Industries is continually working to improve its products, activities and training to help move toward a more sustainable future.”
This year, NRMCA divided its Environmental Excellence Awards into three regions, with first, second and third place winners representing the Eastern, Central and Western United States. Aggregate Industries is the only participant who received awards for two separate ready-mix facilities: its Everett Plant in Everett, Mass., taking first place in the East, and the Plano Plant in Plano, Texas, taking third place in the Central region.
This NRMCA award is given to facilities that have met or exceeded government environmental compliance measures, invested staff time toward sustainable initiatives, and developed innovative procedures in sustainable plant management.
The NRMCA honored Aggregate Industries and other award winners during the 2016 ConcreteWorks in Nashville, Tenn., last week.
