Event Highlights
Tilt-Up Awards Gala: Kick off this year's event at the sixth annual Tilt-Up Awards Gala. The event, sponsored by Nox-Crete, will honor those organizations, people and projects that have successfully illustrated the variety, beauty and flexibility of tilt-up construction.The event kicks off at 6:00 pm with drinks and live music in the exhibit area, followed by dinner and the awards program at 7:30 pm. Cocktail attire is requested. Awards presented during this event will include, the Alphonse Engelman Safety Awards, Tilt-Up Achievement Awards and the TCA Professional Awards. We will also induct a new member to the TCA College of Fellows.
Education: One of the great advantages of active involvement with the Tilt-Up Concrete Association is the opportunity for discourse across disciplines (architecture, engineering, construction, supply). This year's education program features talks bringing together these sometimes divergent interests to highlight common issues, shared responsibilities, and opportunities for increased collaboration. Additionally, series of focused talks for designers and contractors will dive deeper into topics specific to each. The education program is proudly sponsored by Dayton Superior, Construction Materials, Inc. and Bob Moore Construction.
Outdoor Demo: Two years ago, in Denver, we asked leading suppliers of tilt-up tools, accessories and services to demonstrate the most common and costly mistakes made on jobsites at the 2016 outdoor demonstrations. The outdoor demonstrations at the 2018 Tilt-Up Convention and Expo in Dallas, Texas will expand upon that theme adding innovative solutions to the mix. This move is inspired by the extraordinary success of Tilt-Up Future Think held last spring in Dallas where a series of talks focused on emerging technologies and ideas with promising applicability for the tilt-up concrete construction industry were presented. Additionally we are seeking 2-3 tilt-up related challenges or competitions to be included. The event will consist of 12-14 stations, each presenting a single topic. Small groups of attendees will move from station to station allowing for more intimate and interactive demonstrations. The Outdoor Demo is sponsored by HD Supply Construction & Industrial White Cap.
Current TCA President Tim Manherz with TAS Commercial Concrete is leading efforts to make this the most successful outdoor demo to date. Having led the extremely successful outdoor demo at the 2013 Tilt-Up Convention in Houston, TAS has the experience and passion to take this event to the next level.
Tilt-Up 101: Tilt-Up 101 is an intentional introduction to the industry described as site cast tilt-up construction. In order to get the most out of the multi-day experience at TCA Convention, Tilt-Up 101 quickly connects persons new to the industry or new to the construction method to the basic design, management and construction principles that make this method successful. This course is separated into three components to offer the attendee distinct elements to add to their Convention experience.
