Sunconomy LLC, an Austin, Texas-based residential building company, and Forge New, a San Francisco, Calif.-based residential development company, have partnered to introduce We Print Houses, an all-in-one 3D printed home technology system that can be licensed by builders and contractors across the country. This is the first 3D home printing system able to get permits in the U.S.
The system includes a maneuverable mobile platform outfitted with a proprietary printer head that “prints” entire houses with hydrophobic, self-binding geopolymer cement. This eliminates the need for in-demand subcontracting crews, reducing labor costs and possible delays. The system constructs homes in days without the need for brick layers, dry wall installers, roofers, carpenters, or other specialists.
“We have assembled a completely mobile 3D home printing system that any builder or contractor can master in a matter of weeks and it will completely change their business model,” says Larry Haines, Founder of We Print Houses. “This system immediately removes the common pitfalls of traditional home building – labor shortages, materials waste, construction time – and rewards you with time and more durable and efficient homes.”

The first 25 licensees will be eligible for a territory exclusive license to the We Print Houses system. In addition to the mobile 3D concrete printing system, each licensee will receive training, equipment certification, bi-annual site visits, and marketing support. Licensees will also have access to a portfolio of home plans that feature disaster-resistant details such as curved walls to buttressed ends, and roofs that lie below the roofline. The stronger concrete homes meet International Building Code standards, are energy efficient, and have lower maintenance costs.
“The construction industry is ripe for disruption and the We Print Houses system arms builders and contractors with the equipment needed to scale their businesses like they’ve never imagined,” says Gregory Takeshita, CEO of Forge New. “Builders with this technology can quadruple their production rates, cut costs by reducing labor and material for sheet rock, roofing, carpentry and painting. Plus, they can build a much and produce more durable and cost-efficient homes using the We Print Houses technology.”

All licensees will participate in a two-week training and certification program on a We Print Houses construction site of Genesis, the first home in the U.S. to be designed, engineered, permitted, built, appraised, and sold using the technology. Sited on a 100 by 120-foot lot featuring a 17-foot slope, Genesis will fully illustrate the complex architectural capabilities and reduced time, labor, and material waste of the We Print Houses system. Genesis will be constructed with participation from partners including: basalt rebar company Sudaglass; BauBox kitchen cabinetry; Porcelanosa tile, kitchen and bath fixtures; Ferguson Plumbing Supply; Whirlpool appliances; RenewAire’s ERV; Jekko’s mobile platform; Graco Inc.’s pump and mixer; Elexa's guardian leak protection system, among others.
Licensees are then included in the We Print Houses marketplace, connecting qualified builders and prospective home buyers who have expressed interest in purchasing homes using the technology.
