What type of weather resistive barrier (WRB) should be used behind brick veneer?

Recently Matt Risinger of Risinger Homes, an Austin, Texas-based custom builder and whole-house remodeling contractor specializing in architect-driven and fine craftsmanship work, set out to answer this question in a Guest Blog post for Custom Home, a sister publication to Masonry Construction. Risinger provided a solid explanation of why he recommends:

... using a WRB with a perm rating lower than conventional house wrap. A lower perm rating means that the WRB is less likely to let moisture from the airspace behind the brick reach the wall sheathing.
