We’re Running Out of Sand… and Concrete is to Blame

This author says that rapid urbanization has created a world obsessed with concrete and that is depleting the world's supply of sand. Between 2011 and 2013, China used more concrete than the US did in the entire 20th century. But we're beginning to run out of a key ingredient of the material - sand. This is the message that is spreading--we in the concrete industry need to be aware of these attacks on concrete and be prepared to respond.
