WEST 7TH STREET BRIDGE WINS BEST OF PRECAST AWARD
WEST 7TH STREET BRIDGE WINS BEST OF PRECAST AWARD

The award was presented to Heldenfels Enterprises, the supplier of the bridge’s precast floor beams; Sundt Construction, the general contractor and supplier of the precast arches for the project and the Texas Department of Transportation.

The West 7th Street Bridge is the first of its kind in the world built with precast, post-tensioned arches and floor beams. Each arch measures 24 feet tall by approximately 160 feet long and weighs more than 640,000 pounds. The 12 concrete arches on the bridge were built offsite and installed in pairs along either side of the old bridge.

The reconstruction of the West 7th Street Bridge improved pedestrian access and safety and created a landmark gateway between Fort Worth’s downtown and cultural district.

Sundt has a history of more than 45 years and more than $2 billion of project work throughout the Lone Star State. Among the general contractor's notable Texas projects are the Loop 375 Transmountain West freeway, El Paso; the FM 3351 Bridge over Interstate 10, San Antonio; Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) 911 Dispatch Center, San Antonio; work at SeaWorld, San Antonio; Warrior in Transition Barracks at Fort Sam Houston, Fort Bliss and Fort Hood; the Wichita Falls New Regional Airport Terminal; Reunion Tower, Dallas; and work at Austin Bergstrom International Airport Runway, Aprons & Taxiways.
