Readers of Concrete Surfaces will have a place to call their own at World of Concrete—The Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion. Located in the Silver Lot in front of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s South Hall, the pavilion is the place to see the latest and greatest in decorative concrete, colors and stains, polished concrete, new and exciting decorative techniques, and lots more. This includes:
- • The Artistry in Decorative Concrete Demonstrations. This live-action event features industry artisans who share their techniques and experiences with attendees. Artists are eligible to win one of two $500 prizes awarded to the Attendees’ Choice where you cast your vote, and the Experts’ Choice.
Confirmed artists include John F. Campbell, of Fractal Based Innovations; Adrian Gascon; Randy Klassen of Klassen Concrete; Mike Murray, of Murray Decorative Concrete Supply; Carlos Andres Perez, Custom Concrete Designs; and Nick Relampagos, of It’s Concrete.
- The Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion Awards will recognize the art, craftsmanship, and industry education that occurs in the exhibits in the pavilion. All exhibitors with a booth in this area will be encouraged to participate. There will be three categories: best flatwork, best vertical work, and best specialty work (includes countertops and furniture). Within each category, attendees will select an Attendees’ Choice winner; there will also be an Experts’ Choice winner.
- New for 2013 is Let’s Build with Concrete for Habitat. The last two years, attendees have participated in a hands-on tool demonstration constructing concrete tabletops. After the event, these items were donated to the Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas ReStore. This year, items from the demonstration will be donated with the help of instructors and students involved in Skills USA.
Of course, the Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion is just one place to spend your time. Don’t forget about the other editorial events, exhibitors, and educational seminars. Visit www.worldofconcrete.com to register and for more updates.
