The Expanded Shale, Clay and Slate Institute (ESCSI) is sponsoring the "ESCSI Internal Curing to Improve Your Concrete," a comprehensive training session on the use of internally cured concrete in practice. The complete internal curing (IC) story includes the latest development on design, production, quality control and value-added aspects of IC. This training is based on the team approach and is geared for all people involved in the use of internally cured concrete (designer, contractor, batch plant operator, quality control personal, inspectors and owners).
Course includes five unique modules:
- Designing an internally cured concrete mixture
- Handling and pre-wetting ESCS lightweight aggregate
- Batching and quality control
- Placing, finishing and curing
- Benefits and examples of long term service life
Lead presenter, Dr. Jason Weiss, is an industry expert on internal curing. He is the Miles Lowell and Margaret Watt Edwards Distinguished Chair in Engineering and the Director of the Kiewit Center for Infrastructure and Transportation Research at Oregon State University. In addition to Professor Weiss, the seminar will include Stephen Herald of Aggregate Industries presenting the ready-mix concrete producer's perspective on internal curing and Erik Holck of Denver Water presenting the owner's perspective.
