To meet the public’s demand for the latest craze in movie viewing, the owner wanted the new 16-screen, 3300-seat movie theater built quickly. The contractor and architect met the challenge.
Precast concrete played a starring role. Confab California Corp. of Lathrop produced 348 precast, prestressed wall panels that were 8 inches thick and 40 feet high, varying in width from 8 feet to 13 feet. To meet the production schedule, the panels were manufactured at a rate of 3600 square feet a day.
