Washington, DC (December 9, 2014) – Hanley Wood, the premier information, media, event, and strategic marketing services company serving the residential, commercial design and construction industries, has announced the winners of the fourth annual CONCRETE SURFACES Polished Concrete Awards. Twenty-six projects from around the world were entered in nine project categories. Over 5,800 online visitors voted in the Readers’ Choice Category.

“This year’s entrants once again proved how the industry continues to grow beyond traditional industrial and warehouse floor applications,” said Victoria K. Sicaras, editor of CONCRETE SURFACES. “We’ve seen excellent examples of polished concrete surfaces in decorative, environmental, and other applications, including glowing fiber optic countertops, polished walls and columns, and an ultra-energy-efficient home.”

The categories for the 2014 Polished Concrete Awards were based on the types of projects where polished concrete is commonly used: commercial, countertop, craftsman, educational, industrial, institutional, residential, and retail; along with one category to recognize innovation in the industry. In some categories, judges honored projects representing both new construction and repair and rehabilitation construction. This year, the judges also named both a residential and commercial winner in the Craftsman category to honor the very different scopes of work performed.
