Work on developing an engineered cementitious composite (ECC), or bendable concrete is continuing by Louisiana State University Construction Management researchers and the results are promising. Most recently, the team constructed 60-foot-long overlay sections on top of a section of deteriorated asphalt, one using their flexible ECC and another with conventional concrete.
