When properly proportioned and placed, pervious concrete pavements provide a smooth, durable riding surface while retaining an open surface texture that allows water to pass. But because of its unique characteristics, pervious concrete requires procedures for subgrade preparation, mixing, transporting and placing that are different from those of conventional concrete.
