This August 2017 photo shows Shopko’s first polished concrete floor, which was placed into service in 2014. It’s received only routine maintenance: dust mopping daily and scrubbing two to three times a week with Prosoco Inc.’s Consolideck LS (lithium silicate) Klean.
Shopko specifies early-entry sawcutting on slab-on-grade floors intended for polishing. This produces about 6,000 feet of joints in a 250-foot-by-250-foot floor.
Polished concrete floors are low maintenance but not maintenance-free. Use a very soft pad to clean the surface without scratching it.

When restoring polished concrete, use manufacturer-recommended chemicals, the proper floor pads and diamond products for the level of restoration desired, and be sure to remove all residue left on the floor.
Floors that have become dull or hazy can be restored with the proper expertise, equipment, tooling, chemicals, and pads. Clarity has been restored to areas in the foreground and top of the photo, whereas the mid-section has yet to be done.
