Middle Harbor Construction – wharf deck concrete pour. The wharf pour is an 80 ft. long deck and used 800 cubic yards of concrete.
Gantry cranes are used to load and unload container ships at the Port of Long Beach.
Steel girders, resting on friction collars attached to precast concrete piles, support plywood soffit forms for a new wharf. Pan forms create longitudinal and transverse beams of waffle slab design.
Four-foot-thick wharf slab was heavily reinforced to support cranes and container loads.
The Middle Harbor project entails a massive wharf expansion and upgrade, constructed by Manson/Connolly JV.
