Maria Gustavsson, a Swedish engineer and industrial designer, has created concrete furniture using Concrete Canvas, a fabric that is infused with portland cement. She drapes the dry fabric onto inflatable pillows and a wooden frame and then sprays on water to hydrate the cement and harden the fabric. She staples the fabric to create seams and even installs buttons for easy chairs, ottomans, and even lampshades. The furniture is 800 to 1000 euros apiece.
